Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Greatham Bridge Viewed from the eastern bank. Previously a ferry point the first bridge was constructed in 1294 and remained in use until the 1790s when much of it was reconstructed. Severe flooding destroyed the eastern side in 1838 which was replaced with a steel girder which is still in use today. Bridge strengthening was carried out in 1912 and 1942 and again as recently as 2003 to ensure the structure continues to function. |
