File:Guanyin 觀音 (8242482388).jpg
Original file (1,063 × 1,600 pixels, file size: 275 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
This statue was done in a single block of willow wood, and much of its paintwork remains. The statue has an inscription dating it to 1282, the early years of the Yuan (Mongol) Dynasty, and also has provisions for a mirror, then a very auspicious object in Chinese society. Most likely this Guanyin's geographical origins were modern-day Hebei Province.
Seen at Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.
