English: A CH-53E Super Stallion with HMH-366 sets down in a landing zone to pick up Army howitzers and artillery crews at Fort Bragg. The CH-53E is the largest and heaviest helicopter in the U.S. military. The heavy-lift cargo helicopter can transport up to 55 troops or 30,000 pounds of cargo and can carry externally slung loads up to 36,000 pounds. With a cruise speed of more than 150 mph and a range of approximately 600 miles, it provides assault transportation of combat troops, supplies and equipment during expeditionary, joint or combined operations. The squadron must be prepared for short-notice, worldwide employment in support of Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations. |
