Summary[edit]

Description
English: Compartment originally used as seamen's mess onboard HMS Gannet (1878). The mess was the compartment nearest the bow on the main accommodation deck, underneath the forecastle compartment where one of the ship's guns was housed (steps leading up). The mess provided sleeping quarters for 125 seamen. Ship preserved at Chatham Dockyard, Kent, UK. Composite image showing some distortion at join.
