Frank nach, dafs die KnöUchen im sterilisierten Boden niclit ent-stehen. Schon diese Tatsache hätte darauf führen müssen, dafs essich bei der Bildung der KnöUchen um irgendeine Wechselbeziehungzwischen Mikroorganismen und den Wmzeln handeln müsse. Indessenkonnte man diesen Gedanken deswegen nicht fassen, weil man überdie anatomische Struktm^ der KnöUchen ganz eigenartige Anschauungenhegte. Bereits 1867 hatte M.
