| Description |
English: Hatchery supply from Loch an Eilein The natural outfall from Loch na Eilein is a small stream Abhain Beacravik, however there is a dam to the east of the stream that feeds two large diameter pipes that run down the hill to the salmon hatchery. The picture also shows the main electricity supply line which crosses the Minch from Waternish on Skye and comes ashore where Abhain Beacravik meets the sea. This line runs all the way to Battery Point power station near Stornoway. There are plans to lay a new link to the mainland as this current link is running at full capacity in the winter, and will not allow new renewable energy to be exported from the isles. |
