English: In the Middle Ages, a street in Frankfurt am Main connected the chicken market and the cloth-making district. Because a dealer wanted to build there, architects simply put the house on stilts, which is how Germany's first passage was created.
Deutsch: Im Mittelalter verband in Frankfurt am Main eine Gasse Hühnermarkt und Tuchmacherviertel. Weil ein Händler dort bauen wollte, stellten Architekten das Haus einfach auf Stelzen, so entstand die erste Durchgangspassage Deutschlands. |
