Man handing a letter to a woman in the entrance hall of a house. A young woman sits by the window with a dog on het lap. To the right a young man approaches holding a letter. To the left another dog. Through the open door a child can be seen playing on the street alongside a canal (perhaps the Kloveniersburgwal in Amsterdam).
