English: Holocaust survivor Martin Becker, 87, poses with New York Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer Heather Ruter, New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs, equal employment manager, following a discussion about his experiences growing up in Germany and escaping Nazi rule during 1939, April 30. The presentation was coordinated by Ruter in observance of Holocaust Remembrance week, April 27–May 4, 2014. The talk focused on a book written by Bruce Chadderton of Auckland, New Zealand, titled “Descent into the Abyss: The Shoah” published in 2012 by the Education Fund, Society of Israel Philatelist, which was dedicated to Becker’s sister, brother-in-law and niece, all murdered during the Holocaust.
