Description

Hurbat Castra – Oil Presses. Byzantine Period 4th-7th Centuries. Located at Haifa

בית בד מחורבת קסטרא, התקופה הביזנטית מאות 4-7 לספירה. החורבה נחפרה במבואותיה הדרומיים של חיפה, על התוואי המתוכנן של מנהרת הכרמל. באתר התגלתה עיר רומית ביזנטית שכלכלתה התבססה על ייצור יין ושמן זית בכמויות תעשייתיות. בשנת 1997 הועברו שניים בתי בד לאתר דרך הדורות שבפארק הכרמל.
