Español: La iglesia Matriz, es una construcción colonial que alberga, como parte de su patrimonio, a la santa imagen del Señor Cautivo de Ayabaca, una de las efigies católicas más veneradas y milagrosas de la región. Es a causa de lo anterior, que el templo de Ayabaca, también es conocido con el nombre de Santuario del Señor Cautivo de Ayabaca.
Según registros históricos, la iglesia Matriz del distrito de Ayabaca, es una construcción que fuera concluida en el siglo XVII. Esta iglesia, arquitectónicamente, presenta un diseño predominantemente barroco y cargado de símbolos; tan solo el lado lateral del templo, que da cara a la plaza de armas de Ayabaca, se encuentra conformado por un grupo de trece arcos que, según se sabe, son las representaciones de Jesucristo y de los 12 apóstoles que aquel tuvo. |
