Summary[edit]

Description
English: A block of red Cipollino ("onion-stone") marble from a local quarry. As this picture has been shown (wrongly) in the Agora category, here is a text from the museum itself (after describing Byzantrine finds): "There is significant the documentation relating to the red cipollin from a local quarry (Iasos red marrble). the extraction and export of which were of great importance for the economy of the city in the late period."
