Description |
English: Made from molten glass pressed in a mold, this type of medallion was mass-produced and served as a souvenir or memento of a visit to a holy shrine. The medallion, with a typically Byzantine composition, shows that craftsmen in the port city of Venice were familiar with the art of Constantinople. |
