Selten befällt der Schädling die zuletztentwickelten Blattspreiten, und so sucht man ihn daher am sichersten anden Basalblättern und kann ihn hier, selbst wenn diese ziemlich verwittertsind und der Halm reif ist, oft unschwierig nachweisen. Es wäre künftig noch zu ermitteln, wie weit Frost oder Düngung —zumal Perchlorat haltiger Salpeter — eine Infektion des Getreides be-günstigen. Interessant wäre es auch, über das Leben des Pilzes in derErde weitere Aufschlüsse zu erhalten, zu erforsclien, ob er hier etwaan dem unteigepflügten Dung oder Stoppeln noch andere Fruchtformen,Perithecien etc., oder Sklerotien entwickelt, und auch noch in dieserGestalt den jungen Saaten verderblich Averden kann, um dann auf ihnenwieder eine Konidien tragende Generation folgen zu lassen, oder ob erin der Erde nur als steriles Mycel oder in hefeartiger Form weiter zuvegetieren vermag.
