Summary[edit]

Description
English: Keyingham Cemetery, Keyingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
A September sunrise over the parish cemetery on Eastfield Road, Keyingham. In December 1895 the parish council sought land for a new cemetery. The field called Cherry Garth to the west of Church Lane was considered but there were protests by Hull Road brewer James Jackson who feared that his water supply would be contaminated. This site on Eastfield Road (then called New Road) was eventually chosen although the half acre plot cost the council £100 when agricultural land was generally selling at £33 per acre. The first gravedigger appointed was Mark Goundrill and the first burial was that of seven month old Florrie Goundrill on 28 December 1898.
