Copy of Plate 6 of the second set of Thomas and William Daniell's 'Oriental Scenery.' By the end of the 18th Century Calcutta was a flourishing city with beautiful public buildings and grand houses. The road to Chowringhee was a broad avenue on the east side of the Maidan where some of the grandest of Calcutta's neo-classical villas were situated.
