Description

Leanne Freeman was a 23 year old woman of no fixed address, whose body was found mortally wounded at 1 am 2011-11-29, on isolated Unwin Avenue. She was declared DOA at the hospital, where medical staff determined she died not in a traffic accident but by a gunshot wound to the head.

Police believed she was shot elsewhere. On 2011-12-10 her clothes and belongings were found in a dumpster in Scarboro.

Police captured two suspects on 2011-12-16 and 2011-12-17.

The Toronto Star started a trust fund after many of its readers were moved by her savage death and her families inability to pay to bury her.

On January 8, 2012, a monument to Freeman was erected at the site her body was found, on Unwin Avenue.
