Summary[edit]
DescriptionLegendary Apple - geograph.org.uk - 29342.jpg |
English: Legendary Apple. This apple tree is in the grounds of Woolsthorpe Manor. It grew up from the fallen tree which is said, possibly erroneously, to have bestowed its fruit on Sir Isaac Newton's head, thereby producing the 'Eureka' moment which led to the formulation of a complete theory of gravitational force. They are cooking apples and said to be 'not very nice' but are good 'keepers' which was useful in the C17th. |
