Summary
[edit]DescriptionLindisfarne Priory - geograph.org.uk - 70694.jpg |
English: Lindisfarne Priory. A view of the entrance to the priory founded by St Aidan in 635. It was here that Saint Cuthbert came to die and be buried. Indeed, it is said that years after he was buried his body was exhumed and had not decomposed.
The priory was used as such a building until Henry VIII's reign and the dissolution of the monasteries in 1537, yet it remains a holy place for pilrgimage today. |
