Summary[edit]
DescriptionLloyd Fuller Diary, December 29-30, 1942 (14794123219).jpg |
"December 29, 1942 No.1 made 1 gunnery hop today. The same Lt. Commander took her up. Used 2 inboards only with the orange projectiles. Pat Dillon and myself went swimming after #1 was secured at 13:00. Not much doing. Laid around all evening until 19:00 when I went to see Bedtime Story. It has been raining all day. December 30, 1942 No. 1 made 2 gunnery runs with red-tipped ammo. As usual, the commander flew #1. Rained practically all day, thereby limiting flying. Played cards most of the afternoon. Went to the show as usual to see This Is Our Life. It was with Olivia DeHaviland, Bette Davis & George Brent: It was a very good show. Lt. Marontate said VMF was credited with almost 170 planes at Cactus." From the Lloyd D. Fuller Collection (COLL/4932), Marine Corps Archives & Special Collections OFFICIAL USMC PHOTOGRAPH |
