Summary[edit]

Description Lot-2058-2: Workers on the Rickenbacker Rescue Boat. They played a part in the rescue of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker and six men of his crew in the Pacific. Elmer K. Brown and Flossie Anson built one of the two life rafts on which the party drifted for three weeks, beginning in October 1942. Miss Anson, who has been continuously at work on boats and balloons for the past six years, said: “It certainly was a worthwhile thrill and satisfaction to know that we had a share in making the boats which affected the rescue of the Rickenbacker’s party.” Office of War Information Photograph.
