Summary[edit]

Description
English: A short animation of images from the STEREO-B EUVI instrument at 171-angstroms, which corresponds to about 1.5 million degrees, showing Comet Lovejoy (C/2011 W3) moving away from the Sun, leaving a twisting tail in its wake. It is not known why the tail is behaving this way, but it may be due to magnetic fields above the Sun's surface.
