English: Lowestoft: part of the Euroscope and a wind turbine One hardly knows whether to feel a sense of achievement or a feeling of anticlimax, arriving here at the easternmost point in Britain. On the one hand it is, of course, a landmark place to be, but on the other it is accessed through a large industrial estate and the route, which isn't hugely signposted, takes you past a waterworks and other uninspiring scenery, now added to by the huge wind turbine which we see here. And all standing alongside the concrete shoreline.
The location is marked by the 'Euroscope', a circular concrete instalment which gives distances to many major European towns, such as Rotterdam (122 miles) and Bratislava (738) which we see here, both a little bit south of due east. |
