Description

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) on Friday, March 9, 2018, announced eight winners of the MTA Genius Transit Challenge, including two who plan to immediately reinvest their cash awards from the competition and contribute seed money to advance their ideas in conjunction with the MTA.

Honorable mention in the communications category went to Alcatel-Lucrent (Nokia) for their proposal of a long-term evolution (LTE) network that would provide ground connectivity for trains in track tunnels, allowing continuous communications for train operators between stations and expanding cellular service or Wi-Fi connectivity to customers between stations.
