Description
English: Gilded wood carved chair with tooled leather back designed and at least partially built by the future Queen Marie of Romania c. 1906, and used at Cotroceni Palace. Most likely, Marie tooled the leather. Modeled loosely after a Norwegian bishop's chair. Given to Alma Spreckels in 1922 for display at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Now at Maryhill Museum of Art, Maryhill, Washington.
