Description
English: Matshita/Panasonic PD-1 LF-1000 optical disc drive with top cover removed, showing the upper centering hub as well as flexible ribbon cables connecting the laser assembly to the controller PCB on the bottom of the unit.

The LF-1000 is a Phase-change Dual (PD) drive compatible with two types of optical storage media. It can process rewrite-able 650 MB discs enclosed in a protective cartridge, or behave essentially like any ordinary 4x SCSI CD-ROM drive when reading CDs. Compatibility with CD-Rs is surprisingly good for a device of this age.
