Summary[edit]

Description

Hungary. Matthias Corvinus. 1458-1490.

AV Gulden or Florint (21mm, 3.54 gm, 5h). Kremnitz mint, Johannes Constorffer, mintmaster. Struck 1472.
•MAThIAS• D G•R•VNGARIE•, Madonna and Child flanked by vases of flowers; raven (corvus) below
S• LADISL-AVS•REX, St. Ladislaus I standing facing, holding axe and clobus cruciger; K G (over A [Augustin Langsfelder]).
Réthy-Probszt 209/C-2; Pohl K7-2; Huszár 679.

Note:

Pohl puts the date for mintmaster Constorffer as 1472, and Langsfelder 1472-1478. However, in this case Constorffer has re-used a Langsfelder die, so they must at least be concurrent.

Magyar: Mátyás aranyforintja. Mátyás pénzének állandó értékét az állandó éremkép is nyomatékosította. A király pénzügyi reformját követően az aranyforintok előlapjára a korábbi címer helyett az ország védőszentje, a Patrona Hungariae került (+mATHIAS•D•G•R•VNGARIE,), az érem hátlapján pedig a hagyományos Szent László (•S•LADISL-AVS REX) ábrázolás
