English: Royal Red Cross 2nd Class (ARRC) Awarded to Sister Elizabeth Ann Porteous, NZANS, WW1 silver cross, 35 mm width, plain ring suspension, with ribbon; Obverse- enamelled red, with broad silver edges around the enamel; a circular medallion bearing effigy of reigning monarch. Reverse- circular medallion bearing the Royal Cypher of the reigning monarch, as well as the words "Faith", "Hope" and "Charity" inscribed on the upper limbs of the cross, with the year "1883" in the lower limb ribbon- 32mm wide grosgrain, dark blue with crimson edge stripes

Notes Royal Red Cross 2nd Class (ARRC) (Geo G- GRI) Sister Elizabeth Ann Porteous, NZANS, WW1 ARRC Citation- LG 9 April 1919, p4680- "In recognition of valuable nursing services in connection with the war" 22-159 Sister Elizabeth Ann Porteous, NZANS was nursing at No 3 New Zealand General Hospital Codford, UK when her Royal Red Cross was gazetted. She was also mentioned in despatches (MID) in connection with administration in Egypt (LG 21 June 1916, p6184), and brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War for valuable services rendered in connection with the war (communique from War Office, 10 August 1918) Sister Porteous- summary of service- WW1- Egypt, France, England (No 3 NZGH, Codford) post-WW1- private nursing Awards- ARRC, MID
