Summary[edit]

Description Curiosity killed the cat, but not the Meerkat! A meerkat has just emerged from his burrow and is sniffing the air around him. The meerkats are extremely curious creatures and subject everything to intense scrutiny, including deadly snakes that may slither past them. The snakes strike at the, especially when they put their snout too close to the snake's mouth, but generally do not bite. A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. In captivity, meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years, and about half this in the wild.
