English: Three days after the axe murder incident in the Korean Demilitarized Zone, American and South Korean forces launched Operation Paul Bunyan. In this picture members of 2nd Engineer Battalion begin to cut down the poplar tree. Other onsite participants included ROK Special Forces and members of the 2nd Bn, 9th Infantry (Manchu) (Original Photo furnished by Wayne Johnson a member of the 2/9th Infantry). This picture is looking north, towards the Bridge of No Return. The men standing farthest away are members of the 2nd Platoon, Joint Security Force.
