Mica of unknown composition and locality. Image width=3.5 cm Thickness 0.3 mm Viewed in direction [001] in incandescent light The compilation illustrates pleochroism (although very weak) as well as interference colour (green) when polarizing filters are used. The background is seen in the upper right corner and the colour of the mica in the lower right corner. The upper and the lower left corner show the background as seen through each of the polarizers. In the middle left is shown how the filters block the light, however not completely and as a result a dark blue colour is seen. The field to the right of the green field has a slightly lighter colour than the field below. In this composition the shown colour change is smaller than the possible change in mica species.Deutsch: Hellbrauner Glimmerscheibe zwischen teilweise deckenden Polarisationsfilter. Die Polarisationsrichtungen sind fast quer (86,5°) zu einander.
Der Glimmer ist von unbekannter Zusammensetzung und Fundort. Dicke 0,3 mm Blickrichtung gegen Spaltfläche (001). Belichtung, Glühlampe. Bildbreite 3,5 cm. Die Zusammenstellung illustriert sowohl Farbwechsel laut Pleochroismus (wenn auch sehr schwach) als auch Interferenzfarbe (grün) bei Verwendung von Polarisationsfilter. Oben recht ist der Hintergrund und unten recht ist die Farbe des Glimmers gezeigt. Oben bzw. unten links zeigt der Hintergrund durch je Filter. In der Mitte Links ist gezeigt wie die gekreuzten Filter das Licht blockieren aber nicht völlig, daher der dunkelblauen Farbe. Das Feld rechts um dem grünen Feld ist nur ein wenig heller als das Feld unter. Die gezeigte Farbwechsel in dieser Zusammenstellung ist sehr gering und wiedergibt nicht die mögliche maximale Farbwechsel. In der Mitte links ist gezeigt, wie die Filter blockieren das Licht jedoch nicht vollständig mit einer dunkelblauen Farbe als Ergebnis.Svenska: Ljusbrun glimmer mellan delvis överlappande polarisationsfilter. Glimmer av okänd sammansättning och fyndort. Tjocklek 0,3 mm Sedd i riktning 001 i glödlampsljus. Bildbredd 3,5 cm Sammanställningen illustrerar både fenomenet pleokroism (dock mycket svagt) och interferensfärg (grön) vid användandet av polarisationsfilter. Övre högra hörnet visar bakgrunden, nedre högra hörnet glimmerfärgen. Övre respektive nedre vänstra hörnet visar bakgrunden sett genom vart och ett av polarisationsfiltren. I vänster mitt visas hur de tvärställda filtren blockerar ljuset dock inte till 100 % varför resultatet är mörkblå färg. Fältet till höger om det gröna fältet är bara något ljusare än fältet under. Den visade färgväxlingen är mycket svag i denna sammanställning och återger inte möjlig maximal färgväxling. |
