Summary[edit]

Description
English: Michael Stuhlbarg, Lawrence Wright and Ali Soufan

On Tuesday evening, Feb. 27, 2018, Friends of the LBJ Library members previewed the new Hulu limited drama series The Looming Tower. Following a screening of the first episode, Mark K. Updegrove of the LBJ Foundation moderated a discussion with Ali Soufan, the former FBI Special Agent depicted in the series; actor Michael Stuhlbarg, who portrays White House Counterterrorism Official Richard Clarke, and who has most recently appeared in films The Shape of Water and Call Me By Your Name; and Lawrence Wright, author and executive producer of The Looming Tower book and TV limited series.

The Looming Tower show, based on Wright’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book traces the rising threat of Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in the late 1990s and how the rivalry between the FBI and CIA at that time may have inadvertently set the path for the tragedy of 9/11.
