Summary[edit]

Description

Peugeot BB1 concept.

"Its father is a scooter. Its mother is a car. So its no wonder Peugeot’s BB1 is so extraordinary.

The zero emission, electric-powered BB1 concept car was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Designed as a solution for future mobility, it reinvents every aspect of the automobile – from design and style to connectivity and technology.

With a range of around 120 Km (75 miles), the BB1 is incredibly compact - just 2.5metres long – yet still seats four people. The driving position has been completely reworked into a much more upright position – and no foot pedals. And not only is the BB1 fully electric, new generation solar panels also help to power the vehicle.

DESIGN Designers drew on the Peugeot heritage in cars, bikes and motorbikes. Yet they also looked to the future, and moved away from current car design. As such, they created a unique driving position and extended wheel arches. The BB1 also features a double bubble roof, similar to the RCZ, and large glazed surface areas.

CONNECTIVITY Interactive technologies include rear-view cameras – meaning no need for mirrors – and an in-built audio system. This acts as a ‘smart phone’, providing among other things, telephone, navigation, Internet access, radio and MP3.

ENVIRONMENT Drawing inspiration from the quad bike, the Peugeot BB1 is fitted with two electric motors mounted in the rear wheels, designed in association with Michelin.

Driveability is key, with excellent in-gear acceleration of 30Km/h to 60 Km/h (19 - 37mph) in 4 seconds. The BB1 is powered by two lithium-ion battery packs with a comfortable range of 120 Km (75 miles)."
