Summary[edit]

Description
English: British Third Army positions, annotated, at Montbrehain, France, 1918, during World War I. The second section of an eight section panoramic view.

The writing on the front of this photograph reads: '1. Panoramas are taken solely for military purposes./ 2. The publication of them in the press will necessarily give valuable information to the enemy./ 3. This panorama is to be kept with as much security as is compatible with full advantage of it being taken by our own troops./ 4. When troops are relieved this panorama should be handed over to the relieving troops.' The positions of troops in the field are also annotated on the photograph, according to their positions relative to landmarks.
[Original reads: 'Montbrehain Sept - Oct. 1918.']
