cacede ce précieux monument, & annoncèrent, par une infeription, quils accorri-pliflbient, dans le fein de la paix, les vœux quils avoient formés pendant laguerre. Cette infeription, placée en face du monument, contenoit ces mots : VICTORI VOVERUNT,PACIFICATORI POSUERE. Ces deux inferiptions ont été compofées par M. Duclos, de lacadémieFrançoifè. ARTICLE II. Description de la dédicace & de la fête qui a été donnée à cette occajîon. Le 9 novembre 1754, M. Lemoyne, conduit par le hérault des Etats, fepréfenta à leur aifemblée, & leur annonça que tout étoit prêt pour la céré-monie de la dédicace : auffitôt ils arrêtèrent de la faire le jour fuivant, & dyaffilier en corps. Ils envoyèrent en conféquence une députation prier lesCommilTaires du Roi & Madame la ducheflè dAiguillon de sy trouver (a).Le 10 , les Etats partirent en corps pour fe rendre à la Place Royale.
