Originalbeschreibung: "Moschee bei Turfan.", Quelle: Albert von Le Coq, "Volkskundliches aus Ost-Turkistan", Reimer, Berlin 1916 (Königlich Preussische Turfan-Expeditionen), hier Tafel 3, Figur 1. Kontext (S. 2): "Die große Moschee (Taf. 3,1) östlich vor der Stadt Turfan war bis vor kurzer Zeit eine wichtige Schule des Islam; in den letzten Jahren soll die Teilnahme nachgelassen haben. Sie ist merkwürdig durch den großen Turm (mänār a.), dessen Bauweise auf West-Turkistan und Chwarizm verweist. Unweit dieser Moschee, am Weg nach Qara-Chōdscha, befindet sich ein angeblich etwa 50 Jahre altes Grab, das durch die mehrfache Wiedergabe eines buddhistischen Symbols, des Rades, auffällt (Taf. 2,2). Dieses Symbol findet sich öfter an heiligen Bauten des Landes, z. B. an einer kleinen Moschee am Wege nach Kaschgar, zwischen Marálbaschī und Tüschürgä."" |
