Description
English: This is a historic map that is part of a comprehensive coastal survey, undertaken by NOAA (US Federal Government) from 1834-1845, focusing on the Long Island Sound area. This map is referred to as a 'T-sheet' and is one of thousands of maps available from NOAA that have not yet been georeferenced.

This has been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as part of a project undertaken by Regional Plan Association (www.rpa.org) and funded by the Doris Duke Foundation, with additional support from the Leon Lowenstein Foundation. In partnership with OpenHistoricalMap, TeachOSM, and many others, this project will map out the historic wetlands of the New York metropolitan area, as part of a study on climate adaptation and habitat restoration.
