Summary[edit]

Description

Leeuwarden Open Days, 11 June 2016.

Cat taking off, gear retracting.

PH-PBY is the oldest Catalina in the world that's still flying. It was built in 1941 with construction number 300 and BuNo 2459. Operating from Iceland, it sunk three German U-boats!

To read all about it: www.catalina-pby.nl/Fans%20of%20the%20Catalina/History%20...

It now has the colours of number 16-218 of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The real 218 was scrapped in 1957.

This is the last photo I will post of this event, promised! ;)
