Summary[edit]
DescriptionPreserved Evan Evans Tours coach (GW 713) 1931 Gilford 168OT Weyman,1976 HCVC Rally, Croydon, London 2 May 1976.jpg |
English: A preserved coach (reg. GW 713), a 1931 Gilford 168OT with Weyman semi-fabric bodywork, pictured in Croydon during the 1976 HCVC Rally. The 1930s Gilford 168OT was a tough and workmanlike bus, used by many operators. GW 713 is pictured here preserved in a mauve and white livery of Evan Evans Tours, but it was originally new to Valliant Coaches of Ealing, hence the London registration, and had worn their mauve and red livery in preservation before this scheme. The destination blind refers to a place in Peterborough area. Originally a rear door coach, at some point an extra door was added to the front. It was preserved in 1959, and entered the Science Museum's collection in 1984. Having deterioated, in Dec 2009 it was collected from their store in Wroughton to be restored off site. |
