Summary
[edit]DescriptionPutative ionocraft variant.png | This is for a Science Refdesk question, NOT known to be possible or relevant. Question is: can a craft akin to a w:ionocraft be constructed so that a powerful alternating current induces ions in the air (right) which are then pulled/pushed backward by properly phased charge patterns at the surface? Blue signifies components under power: one which ionizes the air at right, and others (perhaps under a partially insulating surface, brown) at left which cause the charged air to move backwards along the flight surface. |
