Stema oraşului Amara, potrivit anexei nr. 1, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, încadrat cu un chevron (căprior de aur).

În câmpul superior, pe fond albastru, se află două dropii de aur, amplasate dreapta-stânga.

În vârful scutului, pe fond roşu, se află fântâna heraldică de aur, cu un brâu undat de culoare neagră.

Scutul este trimbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu trei turnuri crenelate.

Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate

Dropiile reprezintă pasărea emblemă a Bărăganului. Fântâna face referire la caracteristica localităţii care este o staţiune balneară recunoscută pentru proprietăţile curative ale izvoarelor şi ale lacului din zonă.

Coroana murală cu trei turnuri crenelate semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de oraş.
