Italiano: STATUA ALUSI - Figura antropomorfa femminile in posizione eretta. Le braccia scendono discoste dal corpo per poi piegarsi verso il ventre, con mani con i palmi rivolti all'in su. Le forme sono tendenzialmente angolate (in particolare per il mento squadrato) come è tipico dello stile degli Igbo meridionali. L'enfasi cade da un lato sulla testa (allungata e rafforzata dal lungo e robusto collo cilindrico) e dall'altro sull'ombelico e le scarificazioni romboidali del ventre e del torace.
Patina terrosa rossastra, in particolare sul collo e sulla parte inferiore delle gambe. Le figure antropomorfe alusi rappresentano divinità della natura che si manifestano sotto forma umana. Vengono raccolte in altari famigliari dove compongono dei gruppi sul modello della struttura parentale igbo. Sono oggetto di offerte sacrificali e di periodiche applicazioni di terra che danno loro colore. Diversamente da quanto accade nei musei occidentali, in loco queste figure appaiono vestite. I palmi delle mani rivolti all'in su esprimono disponibilità, generosità e franchezza. Le scarificazioni frontali (ichi) sono segni di prestigio maschili. |
