English: An International Campaign for Florence and Venice was opened the 2 December at the UNESCO Headquarters by Mr René Maheu Director-General of the Organization with an appeal to the solidarity of its Member States. The Campaign is for the preservation and restoration of the works of arts of these two cities which were damaged during the floods in November 1966. Great stocks of books in the National Library and its historical collections have been devastated. Students removing damaged books from the Library
