Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Replacing London's Victorian water mains, Eldon Street Thames Water is engaged on a huge project to replace over 2000 miles of antique water pipes by 2010.
More than 20 per cent of London's water mains are over 150 years old and more than 40 per cent are over 100 years old. The condition of these old iron pipes, along with London's traffic and corrosive soil, is responsible for an enormous annual water loss through leakage and bursts. The new pipes will be plastic. |
