Summary[edit]

Description
English: Robert Owen's House, New Lanark Robert Owen (1771-1858) was the enlightened son-in-law of David Dale, the man who built the cotton town of New Lanark. Robert Owen was a social pioneer, who in the age of cruel mill managers and 'dark satanic mills', provided decent homes, fair wages, free health care and a new education system for villagers, which included the first nursery school in the world.
