Title
Roman - Coin - Denarius of Septimus Severus - Probable
Description
English: This is a fragment of a Roman silver denarius, probably of Septimius Severus (AD193-211). The Obverse has a bearded portrait of the emperor facing right. The reverse has a standing figure (probably Mars) facing left with a staff and laurel wreath. The coin is badly damaged with a section broken out from the lower right quadrant of the obverse and it may also have been clipped. It has a blundered legend on the reverse and so is probably a contemporary forgery.
