Description

Auteursrechtelijke bescherming is tijdelijk. In Nederland is de vuistregel dat de duur van deze bescherming afloopt op 1 januari, 70 jaar na de dood van de maker. Daarom wordt 1 januari ook publiek domein dag genoemd. Op deze dag komen veel werken beschikbaar die niet meer auteursrechtelijk beschermd worden. Op 3 januari 2019 werd aandacht besteed aan de makers die in 1948 overleden zijn en hun werken die in het publieke domein terecht zijn gekomen. Rommy Albers (senior curator EYE) sprak over filmregisseur en –producent Haro van Peski.

Publiek Domein Dag is een initiatief van Creative Commons Nederland en de Koninklijke Bibliotheek. De dag wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door Circular Content, IP Squared, het Nationaal Archief en Wikimedia Nederland.
