Deutsch: Das fliegende Infrarot-Observatorium SOFIA ist aktuell auf Wissenschaftsflug in Neuseeland. Mit dem 2,5 Meter-Teleskop werden astronomische Beobachtungen im Infrarot- und Submillimeter-Wellenlängenbereich weitgehend oberhalb der störenden irdischen Lufthülle durchgeführt.
SOFIA, the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, is currently in New Zealand. Carrying a 2.5-metre telescope inside a modified Boeing 747SP, the airborne observatory performs astronomical observations in the infrared and submillimetre wavelengths, high above the disturbance of Earth's atmosphere. |
