Notes
  • Significance: Constructed by noted politician and planter, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney (1789-1865), the house has been owned by several noted South Carolina families, including the Adgers and Smythes. Architecturally, it is an interesting example of "Up-country" architecture, designed to provide maximum ventilation in the warm climate.
