DescriptionSP-5B VP-40 last takeoff from San Diego 1968.jpg | The U.S. Navy's last Martin SP-5B Marlin (BuNo 145533) from Patrol Squadron VP-40 Fighting Marlins begins her last run down the seaplane lane in San Diego Harbor commencing her final cross-country flight. The flight began in San Diego on 8 July 1967. After stopping at Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida, the aircraft finally arrived at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, on 12 July. The aircraft was then retired and transferred to the Smithsonian Institution. |
